Facebook is active to trademark the word “Face”
If to believe the online documents then soon, Facebook which is hugely growing social networking site will soon be registering its name. The word face will be trademarked.

With the further progress in this procedure, the US Patent and Trademark office have looked for the “statement of use”. The officials have asked for, how Facebook uses the ‘Face’?

If everything happens the way desired and also granted officially then, the trademark will be applicable to that online site and exchanging messages. Apple's Facetime, for instance has to subtract the usage of the trademarked word. Lawyers commented that other social networks and services should also keep the track of the same.

Trade mark expert and specialist Fiona McBride, from Withers and Rogers law firm, was of the view that the procedure "not as unexpected as it may sound ". Further she also commented that, "Facebook is right to lay legal claim to use of the word 'face' in the context of social networking sites and other specific computer-linked activities because they have built up a reputation in the name Facebook, of which arguably 'face' is the dominant element,"

Blog TechCrunch was the first to tell the world about the views of the social networking site. Nearly 600 million users have virtual presence on this site. It is largest social networks.

The online document says that the Facebook has called for the trademark for the use in services like online chat rooms and electronic bulletin boards for propagating the messages among users, mainly in telecommunication channels.
